During the year under review the biggest proportion of funding went to Asia for the first time in five years. This is mainly because of large-scale infrastructure projects in India, China, and Cambodia but also emergency aid to Nepal and Jordan. In the case of projects in Europe, expenditure was twice as high as the previous year (2014: EUR 203,000). There was an increase in activities involving local Knorr-Bremse sites, for example in Poland, Russia, and Germany.

The majority of projects funded were in the field of social infrastructure, followed by education and training. From the very outset Knorr-Bremse Global Care has focused on creating long-term prospects for the beneficiaries, so the amount of emergency aid provided in the immediate aftermath of disasters is limited. During the year under review three of the five emergency aid projects supported refugees in Germany and Jordan.
